Our Approach
Why Origin is Different
We approach all projects with the end in mind.
We know that details matter and we cover every one in each design.
Contractors and engineers know all too well the frustration of the back and forth. That dreaded phrase “revise and resubmit” translates to delayed project schedules and frustration on all sides. When I started my career as a bridge design engineer, I was surprised how often we received submittals that were signed off by licensed engineers that did not have the background to know what the Engineer-of-Record was looking for. The long process for re-submittals to get approved cost Contractors valuable time and money. It became evident to me that there was a need for someone with experience reviewing and approving submittals to partner with Contractors for construction-related design. So, after spending over a decade in the engineering and construction industries, I founded Origin Engineering, LLC. to bridge the gap between design and construction.
Origin Engineering pairs our background in engineering with tangible field experience that allows us to understand the problems Contractors deal with and work together to provide common sense solutions.
In addition to structural engineering, we perform construction layout, with the focus on bridge projects. We take pride in our attention to detail and know that these details matter when interpreting plans and staking structures on site. Lastly, we provide 3D modeling for machine control and field staking.
We have assisted Contractors with falsework design, temporary bridge design, RFI assistance, substructure redesign, value-engineering proposals, bridge load ratings, construction layout, beam profiling and theoretical deck grades, 3D machine control TIN modeling and more.
Our marketing strategy is really simple. We work to earn our Contractor’s respect so they use us again and recommend us to others. That’s it. We are rooted in engineering and Contractor-focused. If you have a project, we would love to partner with you.
We are rooted in engineering and Contractor-focused.

Our previous experience reviewing and approving contractor submittals gives us a perspective on what is needed to ensure construction is not delayed due to rejected submittals.
Time is critical.
We will work with contractors to meet any deadline.
